The Dell PowerEdge R660xs is a 1U two-socket rack server purpose-built for high-density enterprise workloads including virtualization, scale-out databases, and high-performance computing, delivering the latest Intel Xeon Scalable processor technology in a compact, air-cooled 1U chassis.
The R660xs supports up to two 4th or 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Socket LGA4677-1) with up to 32 cores per socket on the 4th Gen or up to 28 cores per socket on the 5th Gen platform. Memory is provided by 16x DDR5 RDIMM slots supporting up to 1TB of ECC RAM at speeds up to 5200 MT/s (5th Gen) or 4800 MT/s (4th Gen). Storage configurations include up to 4x 3.5" LFF or up to 10x 2.5" SFF hot-swap drive bays supporting SAS4, SATA, and NVMe, plus optional 2x rear 2.5" hybrid drive bays. Internal boot is handled by the BOSS-N1 subsystem supporting HWRAID 1 across 2x M.2 NVMe SSDs (cold swap) or USB. RAID controller options include PERC H965i, H755, H755N, H355, HBA355i, HBA355e, and HBA465i. PCIe expansion supports up to 5 I/O devices including up to 3x PCIe slots (Gen4 or Gen5 depending on riser configuration), 1x OCP 3.0 networking slot, and 1x dedicated PERC slot. Networking includes dual embedded 1GbE ports and optional OCP 3.0 high-speed NICs. Remote management is provided by iDRAC9 with Lifecycle Controller, RESTful API with Redfish, iDRAC Direct, and Quick Sync 2. Power supply options range from 600W Platinum to 1800W Titanium hot-swap redundant units.
